Bradon Forest students organise PE competition

Bradon Forest students from Year 7 organised a PE competition for Year 3 pupils from St Mary’s Primary School in Purton last week. They organised the event as part of a Sky Sports and Youth Sports Trust initiative.

Bradon Forest PE teacher, Mr Burton-Towell, told us Jamie Barrow, Britain’s fastest snowboarder and Sky Sports Ambassador, spent a day with the Bradon Forest students last term. The students agreed to organise a sporting event for St Mary’s pupils as part of the goal setting work they did with Jamie. They worked hard to plan and prepare the competition they delivered. On the day they were very supportive and encouraging of the pupils that took part.

It was nice to see the pupils communicating and working together as a team - Lily Deighton.

I enjoyed seeing the children having a good time - Finley Corcoran

This is what some of the children from St Mary’s had to say about the competition. Jess said she liked the part where you had to hit a target in tennis.  Flo said the netball would help her in her training for the netball team and Adam enjoyed how the students led the lesson and decided what we were doing instead of the adults.

Ms Farr, Year 3 teacher at St Mary’s reported:

It was clear the students had put a lot of thought into the session, providing a well-planned, fast paced, clearly explained and fun lesson. The pupils from St Mary’s children thoroughly enjoyed the session, and are very keen to come again!
