Chinese New Year

Students celebrated Chinese New Year with a feast for their senses, thanks to our in-house caterers, Aspens. Two speciality chefs were brought in to cook up a wide variety of fresh ingredients on the main stage at lunchtime. Chopsticks and fortune cookies were on offer as part of the whole Chinese experience.

"The food smelt so good, I couldn't not try it! I don't normally like vegetables, but this was delicious!" Year 9 student

Each Chinese New Year is characterised by one of 12 animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac - and astoundingly, 2016 marks the 4713th Chinese year.  Alongside Year of the Monkey, there is also five vital elements: Gold, Water, Wood, Fire or Earth. This year it's fire. People born in the Year of the Monkey are defined by two characteristics: Competition And Challenge.

Be inspired by the monkey and be the best you can be... rise to the challenge! Happy Chinese New Year!
