House Debate Competition - More Information

Our first House Debate competition starts on Monday 12 March - just a few weeks away! Various students have already expressed an interest in representing their house and letters will be going home this week.

The competitions will all be held in the Bradon Forest Drama Theatre from 4.30pm - 6.00pm. There will be three debates per evening judged by: our Chair of Governors, Mr John Scott; a member of the Senior Leadership Team and Miss Scott.

Each year group will be competing on a separate evening, but you are welcome to attend any/all nights:

  • Monday 12 March: Year 7
  • Tuesday 13 March: Year 8
  • Wednesday 14 March: Year 9
  • Thursday 15 March: Year 10

As an audience member you will have the opportunity to put questions to the teams as they summarise their arguments. These can make or break a debate!

Even though a debate competition is quite formal, we will also be serving tea and coffee in the brief interval between each contest. Students may stay after school until 4.30pm, under the supervision of Miss Scott, but will need to have transport arranged for 6pm as this is after late buses. If you have any questions please just email meMiss Scott at scottr@bradonforest.wilts.sch.uk.

We look forward to seeing you at the House Debate Competition!
