House Debate Competition - The Results!

Last week students from Years 7-10 competed in Bradon Forest’s first ever House Debate competition.

Students worked in teams of 3 to argue, rebut and answer questions on a variety of topics.

 

Year 7 topics:

  • All school should be single sex
  • Parenting classes should be compulsory
  • The supernatural is fiction

 

Year 8 topics:
  • We should fund ocean exploration over space travel.
  • The validity of euthanasia for people.
  • Is media certification obsolete in our society,

 

Year 9 topics:
  • Bring back the countryside tradition of fox hunting
  • American teachers should carry guns.
  • We should raise the legal driving age to 25.

 

Year 10 topics:
  • Religion does more harm than good.
  • If we could bring the dead back to life, we should do it.
  • The over 75s should have their right to vote withdrawn.

 

Miss Scott, who organised the competition, would like to thank the staff who attended to support their students; Mrs Dickson, Mr Heathcoate and Mrs Chappell, who acted as judges; Mr John Scott (Chair of Governors) who judged on all four nights, and the drama department for letting us have the theatre after school.

Teams were graded out of 20 for each debate they took part in over the 4 nights and the winner was….RINGSBURY!
