Maths Enrichment at Cheltenham

Fifteen Year 11 students visited Pittville School in Cheltenham with Maths Teacher, Mrs Hooper, for a Maths Enrichment morning earlier this week. The event was geared for Year 11 students who might benefit from studying Maths or further Maths at A-level.

Patrick Cobb from the Further mathematics Support programme gave a talk on probability related to gambling, aptly named Against All Odds. There was a session on Maths and careers and the morning ended with Maths quizzes and prizes for the winning teams.

"It is always great to do something a bit different especially when it involves Maths!" Mrs Hooper commented. "I was very impressed with our students who often took the lead in the mixed school groups and showed off their mathematical expertise by winning several prizes. I am looking forward to hosting a similar event at Bradon Forest next year."
