Music Competition Success - Rotary Finals

On Sunday 12 March 2017, Dean Close School hosted the District Final of the Rotary Young Musician Competition. Year 10 student, Caitlin MacClay, who won the Senior Vocal Section at the Swindon Young Musician Competition a few weeks ago, represented Bradon Forest amidst strong competition.
There were six finalists in total, most of whom came from public schools, and one from St John's School in Marlborough, and Caitlin's competitors were all sixth form students, studying music.
Caitlin MacClay, (Sponsored by The Rotary Club of Swindon North), performed Sweet Chance, that led my steps abroad by William H Davies and Michael Head. An die Late by Johann Friedrich Rochlitz and Franz Schubert and closing with Second hand white baby grand by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittmann.
Congratulations to Caitlin who placed second!
Bradon Forest peripatetic teacher, Fiona Fleet, who accompanied Caitlin on piano, said, "Caitlin sang beautifully today and thoroughly deserved 2nd place. The standard was unbelievably high!"
The competition was supported by three exceptional adjudicators, without whom the competition would not have been possible, Julia Morris, Sara Espley and Stephen McDade who together have a very extensive formal musical education, teaching experience and global performance repertoire.
