Oxford University Within Reach

On Monday 16 May, Ms Hunter took a 15 strong group of our more able Year 8 students to visit Oxford University for the purpose of exploring the myths and realities of studying there.

The group had a tour of Merton College, starting at Radcliffe Square, whilst learning about the wide variety of college traditions, before hearing all about student life, why people go to university and the importance of academic research.

"We want our students to understand that with hard work and dedication, they can aspire to study at one of the top universities in our country. That this isn't out of their reach. It was interesting to hear how their 'mini-bus discussions' on future careers changed after the visit. The group obviously were inspired by the trip and came away enthused about the possibilities of higher education." Ms Hunter
