Practical Science-ing for Y11

This week Year 11 Scientists have spent dedicated sessions completing practical experiments, ranging from testing the rate of photosynthesis in different light conditions, titrations, chromatography, identifying ions and using acceleration ramps.
Throughout their course, students complete between 21 and 28 required practicals which might be examined in their final exam papers. The exam boards are keen to ensure that students across the country are accessing a wide range of practical skills and will use questions about the experiments set in ‘novel contexts’. These lessons serve as a perfect opportunity for students to get 'hands on' with different techniques, but also discuss with their teachers and peers how they may use the experiment in other circumstances.
