Sharing the Joy of Reading

Sharingthejoyofreading

On Friday 5th February, the Librarians took Daniel Holmes and Robin Wilson to Lydiard Millicent Primary School to do a reading presentation to the Year 6 pupils. The two students have created a presentation that encourages children to read more. It explains that reading is still exciting as children get older. It's still "cool" to read and more importantly that reading helps improve learning in all subjects.  Daniel and Robin also took the top 10 books to show the children and talked about why they liked their favourite book. The boys will be visiting other feeder primary schools, hoping to encourage children to read more.

"Thank you for your time.  The class really enjoyed it and we had a great discussion about reading after you had left.  I can understand your students being nervous, but they did very well. The children said it was good to hear it from other children rather than another adult telling them they must read." Andrew Large, Lydiard Millicent Primary School
