Sports Day 2018

Mr Hartley reports:

After years of worrying about Sports day and rain it was a complete role reversal this year. After sweltering temperatures in the weeks leading up to Sports day it was a call to arms for the erection of marques and gazebos to provide well needed shelter from the sun.

Luckily the weather for the first 2 hours was cool and meant sports day was a huge success. The 3 school houses were well represented throughout the competition and created a fantastic display of sporting achievements. This year’s sports day was exciting because we had new events for this year meaning we had new records set for future students to try and break. We also saw old records being broken, one of which was originally set back in 1985 for Girls Javelin. It was fantastic to see all the school staff out celebrating a day of sport, cheering on the students and houses. The medals from individual races were gladly received by students on the podium throughout the day, celebrating their personal success and of course points for their houses.

Sadly, there can only be one winner for the overall house, after collating the all the scores from some many events and year groups Peartree received the magnificent Sports day house trophy, and a large trophy it is too. The day was a superb display of sportsmanship and holding the Bradon values true throughout with respect for competitors and the determination of athletes. Well done, to all students for a day of competitive and fun sports.

Until next year!
