Sports Presentation Evening

The Link Magazine Reports:

Bradon Forest School held their first ever Sports Awards evening on 3 October with guest of honour, former pupil and British Olympic swimmer Grant Turner.

Before presenting awards to over 100 students for their outstanding achievements and development in over a dozen sports, Grant gave an inspiring speech to the young athletes.

He spoke of how he stayed on track when things didn't quite go to plan and told the students: "Life is short. Whatever you do, give it your all." Grant said: "It seems that Bradon hasn't changed much in the 8 years since I left, but then it didn't need to, this is a great school!"

He later tweeted: "Great evening @BradonForestSch first ever sports awards. Very talented students and dedicated staff. Great to be back 8 years after leaving."

Bradon Forest Sports Ambassadors Luke Neves and Poppy Gibson also gave speeches, sharing their experiences and highlights from their time at the school.

The evening focussed on sports achievement was the first of it's kind at Bradon Forest, adding to the annual calendar which includes an End of Year Awards Ceremony every in July for Years 7 - 10 and a special Leavers Awards Ceremony in November to celebrate the achievements of ex-Year 11's after their exam results.

Mr Hartley, Head of PE, said in his presentation, "I am proud to be able to celebrate the outstanding sports success of our dedicated students. We often compete against specialist sports schools and colleges, and the fact we can hold our own is a credit to the passion of staff and students alike."
