Theatre in Education

On Thursday 25 May, a group of students from New College visited our Year 10 Drama group to perform a Theatre in Education show. It was based on a true story about a distracted driver using his mobile phone whilst driving, and the tragic consequences for the parties involved.

The aim of the piece of theatre is to educate younger generations on how a simple act of picking up a phone behind the wheel can result in such tragedy and despair. It gives the audience the educational tools to think about how they conduct themselves in a vehicle, whether as a passenger or a driver.

The performers then held a Q&A session, followed by a workshop, where they discussed the process of creating such a piece and told the students how they even met with the real life people from the event.
