Mr Widdop reports: “On Friday, 23 students across Year 8 competed in the ‘Towering Egg-ferno Challenge’. Students are split into teams of four and were given 40 plastic straws, 10 pipe-cleaners, 4 elastic bands, 1 piece of A4 card, 1 metre of Sellotape and 45 minutes to design a tower capable of supporting a 40 gram Cadbury’s cream egg. Each maths class gave a prize for the group that built the highest supported egg and one for the tallest in the year group. It was great to see plenty of variety throughout the designs and some superb teamwork and tower building witnessed. Well done to all involved. The winning Year 8 team achieved 53cm!”
