Towering Egg-Ferno

On Wednesday 5 April, the Maths Department once again challenged their Year 8 classes with the annual Towering Egg-Ferno competition.

Teams of 4 were tasked with designing and building the tallest tower that would support the weight of a Cadbury's Creme Egg for at least 30 seconds, using only limited supplies of card, pipe cleaners, straws and sellotape.

There was such a wide variety of creations, ranging from small, stubby and strong to slender, spindly and saggy! Some towers defied logic and managed to hold the egg, whilst others that were seemingly winners didn't stand the test of time. Clearly a difficult challenge!

"Congratulations to the winning teams, and to all of Year 8 for their eggsquisite eggthusiasm!" Mr Widdop
