WWII Bake Off, 2017

Mrs Loxton reports: On Friday 28 April, we held the first ever Great Bradon World War 2 Bake off. Courtney White and Sophie Partridge, Year 9, won the event. Maddie Winter, Year 8, came second & Charlotte Martin, Year 9, came third. All entrants received 5 house points each for their respective houses.

The expert judges were Lady She a glamorous Hollywood actress over from the USA to work for the British Government as an undercover spy due to her ability to speak German and Dusty an American GI over in Britain before he joins the war in Europe.

Both judges were really impressed by the research and variety that was put on show. All entrants discussed their recipes with the judges & showed off their knowledge of WW2 rationing.

The winning entry was an impressive hamper of goodies including bread, homemade jam, croutons, carrot cookies and ginger bread men. The girls worked very hard and thought about their presentation as well as the yummy taste.

A very special mention has to go to Maddie Winter for the most amazing carrot jam (Miss Beet was a HUGE fan of this) and Tyler Humphries for his scrumptious honey biscuits. The Bake off will return next year!
