Year 10 Students Experience College

To help students make an informed choice about their next step in education the local colleges invited Year 10 students to attend College Experience Days in June and July.

These College Experience Days allowed the students to try taster sessions of courses available at the colleges and provided students with information on different industries This valuable insight also gave them an understanding of the skills that will be needed to attend particular courses. Students got a sneak preview of what college life is like and had the chance to explore the colleges’ resources and facilities and meet current students and staff.

Over 130 students attended Cirencester College with ninety attending New College, thirty-four going to Swindon College and six students wanted to see what Lackham College had to offer.

Feedback received from both colleges and students alike has been extremely positive. Our students found that it has helped them to decide what courses they would like to do post-16 and which college they would like prefer to attend. It was a very hands-on experience as most of the sessions were practical.

All of the colleges reported that the students were not only engaged in the sessions but also with the staff and student ambassadors throughout the days.
