Year 7 Art Trip to Westonbirt

On Thursday 16 June 2016, 170 Year 7 Students travelled to Westonbirt to explore the Arboretum as part of their Art Curriculum. Students were given objects, shapes and colours to find and investigate. They completed drawings, rubbings and sculptures whilst walking around the paths and gardens. Despite mixed weather, they all managed to experience natural objects and collect some examples to use in their classroom work. They even survived the fantastic new 300 metre sky walk, which follows a serpentine path through the trees, giving spectacular views.

Westonbirt, The National Arboretum is located near Tetbury in Gloucestershire and managed by the Forestry Commission, it is perhaps the most important and widely known arboretum in the UK. Planted in the heyday of Victorian plant hunting in the mid-19th century, today Westonbirt Arboretum is one of the finest tree collections in the world, carefully laid out within a beautiful Grade One listed historic landscape.
