Year 8 Swindon Schools Rugby Tournament

On Tuesday 15 November, we played host to the annual Swindon Schools Year 8 Rugby Tournament. The event, organised by our Head of PE, Mr Hartley, saw 7 local schools playing for the Hartley Shield.

Bradon Forest were the only school to submit an A and B team, which is a testament to the popularity of the sport and the quality of our Year 8 players. However, Tuesday was not our day and Isambard School, who played with sheer determination, beat Commonweal in the final to win the tournament.

Both Bradon Forest teams finished mid table.

Thanks to Commonweal, Isambard, Kingsdown, Lydiard Park Academy, Nova Hreod, Ridgeway, Royal Wootton Bassett for a great competition.

"The Swindon Schools tournament has seen local school rugby go from strength to strength. More and more schools enter each year which include schools that in the past have not had a strong rugby representation. This is great for the sport, and great for the students!" Mr Hartley

The Year 7 competition was hosted by Lydiard Park Academy on Monday 14 November. The hosts beat Commonweal in the final, and Bradon Forest came 3rd.

Year 9's compete on Wednesday 23 November at Ridgeway School.
