Year 9 & 10 in UK Maths Challenge

During the day on Thursday 4 February 2016 the top Maths sets in Year 9 and Year 10 competed in the UK Maths Challenge. The challenge is organised by Leeds University and tests students general mathematical knowledge. It is a formal test and students have one hour to answer questions, which get progressively harder.

Although a multiple choice paper, the questions challenge students to think and not to guess.
This means that points are awarded for correct answers and deducted for incorrect ones!

We look forward to seeing how our students have done as we get the results in about six weeks time. Participants can earn certificates, as well as bronze, silver and gold awards, depending on their results. There will be a Best in Year award for each year and also a Best in School.

Not to be left out Years 7 and 8 will compete in their own challenge later on in April this year.
